Congressman Evans Says Resistance is working as Republicans Pull Health Care Bill
Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Dwight Evans released the following statement after House Republicans, under the leadership of Speaker Ryan and President Trump, pulled the American Health Care Act (AHCA) from the House floor.
House Republicans have officially pulled their flawed health care bill from the house floor, because even though they control Congress and the White House, they simply do not have the votes to pass the bill in the House. It became clear that after seven years of working hard to undermine the Affordable Care Act, they did not have a replacement, only excuses
"Let's be clear, the Republican American Health Care Act takes essential health benefits and services away from 24 million Americans young and old," Congressman Dwight Evans said. "I am proud to say the resistance is working; thanks to Americans nationwide who are speaking out against this harmful piece of legislation that does nothing to help hardworking Americans who are trying their best to secure the best life possible for themselves and their families."
It's no coincidence that since the Republican's released their repeal and replace health care law, more than 5,000 people have contacted my Washington, D.C. office to express their staunch opposition to the AHCA bill.
"Today is a small victory for the resistance," Evans said, "though our work is far from over, we need to continue to amplify our voices to make it known that a bill that cuts health care for the people of Philadelphia, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and millions nationwide is not a bill fit for the American people."
