Congressman Evans Calls for Special Prosecutor and Independent Commission to Get Answers on Trump Russia Connection
Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-02) issued the following statement after yesterday’s decision by President Donald Trump to fire FBI Director James Comey.
“As the evidence continues to unfold with each coming minute, I am increasingly concerned about how Congress will be able to conduct an independent investigation into the Trump Administration’s ties to Russia and interference in the 2016 election. Last night’s rash decision to fire and remove FBI Director James Comey from the President’s cabinet sends yet another ambiguous signal as to President Trump’s collusion with Russia. The American people deserve to know the facts. We need an independent commission and a special prosecutor, who is free of political bias and influence and has no allegiance to anyone involved in the ongoing investigation, to uncover the facts regarding the Trump Administration’s ties to Russia and its interference on the election.”
