PA Has Vote by Mail; Economic Impact Payments

As the Covid-19 outbreak continues, many Americans have become interested in voting by mail. Fortunately, Pennsylvania recently changed its laws to allow much wider use of mail-in voting.

You can find more information, start the registration process or apply for a mail-in ballot on the Pennsylvania Department of State website. May 18 is the last day to register before the June 2 primary election. May 26 is the deadline for a mail-in or absentee ballot application to be received.

Economic Impact Payment Won't Affect Your Tax Refund

The economic impact payments (also known as "stimulus checks") being provided because of the Covid-19 outbreak won't affect your tax refund. Many Pennsylvanians received the payments last week by direct deposit rather than a paper check in the mail. Direct deposit is faster and more secure.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients should receive these payments by direct deposit, but SSI recipients with children should visit the IRS website to make sure they don't miss out on payments for eligible children.
