Family Support
In Congress, I’m proudly working to put families first. This means fighting to make child care more affordable, ensuring every American has access to paid family and medical leave, pushing for a foster care system that supports all children and families, working to expand the Child Tax Credit, and more.
Last Congress, I proudly introduced the PEER Mentors Act, which was included in the Supporting America’s Children and Families Act and signed into law. My legislation will promote peer mentorship across the child welfare system, helping keep families together and supporting parents and caregivers in foster and adoptive services.
Serving on the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Worker and Family Support, which oversees unemployment insurance, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), foster care, and maternal and infant programs, I’m fighting to help improve these critical programs and stop negative outcomes that have long plagued communities around the nation, including here in Philadelphia. Further, as a member of the Congressional Foster Youth Caucus and the Youth Mentorship Caucus, I’m able to place Philadelphian families and children at the forefront of these national policy conversations.
