President-Elect’s Rescue Proposal; Tuesday Small Business Relief Info Session; Vaccine for Veterans

I welcome President-elect Biden's Covid relief and economic rescue proposal. It contains many ideas I've voted for in the House last year, which were resisted by the previous Senate majority and the soon-to-be-former president. I viewed the recent, smaller relief deal as a down payment. Starting Wednesday, I believe we'll be able to do a lot more – I can't wait!

This $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan is designed to:

  • speed up vaccinations and contain the virus
  • deliver immediate relief to working families – including rental assistance, SNAP food aid and more
  • help small businesses, especially those hit the hardest
  • help workers by raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour, which I voted for in the House-passed Raise the Wage Act in 2019
  • invest in reopening schools safely

Tuesday Morning: Small Business Relief Info Session

As vice chair of the House Small Business Committee, I know how important these businesses are for our neighborhoods and for providing jobs in our communities. So I want to make sure Philadelphia small business owners know about key federal relief programs that are available.

I'm hosting an information session at 9 a.m. Tuesday for small business owners and managers. We'll have speakers from the U.S. Small Business Administration, West Philadelphia Financial Services Institution and Philadelphia VIP.

You can learn more and RSVP by clicking here.

Attention Philadelphia veterans! If you are over 75 and registered with the Veterans Health Administration, you can call 215-823-4014 to schedule an appointment with the Philadelphia VA Medical Center to receive a Covid-19 vaccine.
