October 5, 2021
E-Newsletter

Philadelphia seniors and their families are invited to my annual, FREE Senior Health and Wellness Fair. This year, it's outdoors for added safety as we keep working together to get Covid under control. It will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7 in the parking lot of Triumph Baptist Church, 1648 W. Hunting Park Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19140.

We'll have good music, health care tips, games and more. We're even planning to stream some portions of the event on my Facebook page, such as a Zumba exercise session. (You should not need a Facebook account to watch.) If you have a question about this event, please call my office at 215-276-0340. I invite you to register now to help us plan for how many people are likely to attend.

Oct. 16 virtual Uniformed Service Academies Fair for students and parents

I invite Philadelphia high school students and their families to register now for the virtual Uniformed Service Academies Fair that I will co-sponsor with Congressman Brendan Boyle and Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon. It will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Oct. 16. You'll find more details at this link. You can also click here for more information from my office on the process of applying for a nomination from your member of Congress to any of the five service academies.

Oct. 18 deadline to register or update your voter registration; 13 drop boxes now available

Oct. 18 is the deadline to register to vote or to update your registration in Pennsylvania in time for the Nov. 2 election, when several city offices, a Pennsylvania Supreme Court seat and other statewide judgeships are on the ballot.

The ballot drop boxes that I believe were so helpful to voters during the pandemic last year are available again for the Nov. 2 election. You can find one near you by clicking here. Billy Penn has a map of the current drop box locations and reports that the city commissioners are looking to add more, especially in West and Southwest Philadelphia.

Voters from any part of the city can return their own voted ballot. These drop boxes are accessible 24/7. You can request a ballot at www.vote.pa.gov or PhiladelphiaVotes.com.

Evening & weekend phone hours: To serve you better, my Philadelphia office has expanded our telephone hours for constituents who have difficulty calling during normal work hours. If you need help with a federal issue, you can reach the office by phone (215-276-0340) on Wednesday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can also email the office by clicking here or fill out a federal privacy form for help with your case (if needed) by clicking here.

Staying informed: To keep up with information and services between these updates, I invite you to follow me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – including updates on my Facebook and Instagram Stories. If you received this newsletter as a forward, click here to start receiving it straight to your own inbox.

Sincerely,

Dwight Evans

Member of Congress
