Why I Voted to Impeach; Good News for Philly Hospitals; Saturday Event for Students and Families

I voted today to impeach President Trump because I believe he incited a violent attack on our nation that led to the deaths of six people, including two Capitol police officers.

I was one of the earliest congressional supporters of impeaching Trump because, in my view, he keeps demonstrating he is unfit for office. I was one of just 58 House members to vote for impeachment in 2018. I did not come to Congress with impeachment in mind, but no one can be above the rule of law in America. I believe his incitement of a violent riot that led to the deaths of six people demonstrates that he is a threat to America and must be removed from power now.

Now I believe the Senate should join the bipartisan majority in the House who voted for impeachment and remove him from power. You can read my full statement here.

Good News for Philly Hospitals

I'm very pleased that Jefferson Health, Albert Einstein Healthcare Network and the state attorney general's office were able to reach a settlement on the hospitals' proposed merger. I have publicly advocated for letting the merger proceed because I believe this is vital for keeping our safety-net hospitals open. Now the way is more clear for these hospitals to provide enhanced stability and access to high-quality care for the residents of North Philadelphia for the foreseeable future. I hope the Federal Trade Commission will drop its opposition as well.

I am continuing to lead an ongoing, bipartisan ‘No More Hahnemanns!' effort to seek solutions to prevent more events like the 2019 closing of Hahnemann University Hospital.
