Congressman Evans Calls for Resistance to Speak Out Against AHCA
WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 24, 2017) – Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-02) released the following statement today after the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released their updated analysis on the Republican American Health Care Act (AHCA).
On May 4, 2017 under Republican leadership the AHCA passed the House of Representatives. Today, twenty days after this disastrous bill passed the House the CBO has officially released their overview of how many people stand to lose coverage and quality of care under the AHCA.
“Between the Trump Budget and the new CBO score it is hard to see how the Trump Administration plans to help Americans nationwide,” Congressman Evans said. “Today we learned that 23 million Americans stand to lose their healthcare by 2026. Today’s news is quite simple. Under the Republican healthcare law, Pennsylvanians will have higher premiums, higher deductibles and more out of pocket expenses. This is unacceptable and un-American.”
“Our neighborhoods Have A Lot To Lose under the President’s budget proposal and the Republican healthcare plan,” Evans said. “It is time for the resistance to speak up and speak out against the massive cuts to critical services and programs our neighborhoods rely on for health, financial stability, and survival.”
Congressman Dwight Evans proudly voted “No” on H.R. 1628, the American Health Care Act (AHCA) on May 4, 2017 as this bill will have a crippling impact on the health, safety and quality of life for Philadelphians, Pennsylvanians and Americans nationwide.
