Congressman Evans Calls Senate Healthcare Collapse An Opportunity to Govern for Well Being of the People

July 28, 2017

Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-02) released the following statement after the Republican "skinny repeal" bill failed in the Senate early this morning.

"What happened on the Senate Floor is not a victory but a much needed opportunity for President Trump and Republicans in both the House and Senate to focus on the needs of the American people," Congressman Evans said. "I've long said there is a big difference between governing and campaigning. It's time for the Republican Party and the President to govern."

"We need to live the values laid out in the founding documents of our nation," Evans said, "As elected officials we truly are of the people, by the people, for the people. This is our chance to roll our sleeves up and get about the business of governing. It's time to stop the political finger pointing, lower the tone, and put the American people first to build a stronger tomorrow for our children and grandchildren."
