Congressman Evans to Keynote Two ‘Conversation with Your Congressman’ Events in Philadelphia to Celebrate Legacy of MLK
This weekend, to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King Martin Luther King Jr. and his lasting impact on our neighborhoods Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-02) will keynote two ‘Conversation with Your Congressman’ events to highlight how the GOP Tax Scam runs counter to the society we want to live in.
“Dr. King once said, ‘of all forms of inequality, injustice in healthcare is the most shocking and inhumane.’ I find these words and Dr. King’s teachings to have such a profound meaning in the current political climate we face. When we think about the GOP Tax Scam and what this means for the continued viability of our neighborhoods we must ask ourselves a simple question, ‘what kind of society do we want to live in?’ If we want to live in a society where we are our brother’s and sister’s keeper, we must do all we can to lift up our neighbors, support our family and friends, and care for our earth and the people around us. The GOP Tax Scam runs counter to the society we want to live in. I hope you will join me this weekend for an important dialogue about how the power of our voices and actions will create the change we desire,” Congressman Evans said.
The Healthcare & Tax Roundtable at Carl Moore Health Center in Point Breeze event will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 AM at The Carl Moore Health Center (GPHA) located at 1401 S 31st St, Philadelphia, PA 19146. Our federally funded healthcare centers, like the Carl Moore Health Center in Point Breeze, are under attack by the Majority Party. In the spirit of the work and legacy of both Dr. King and Carl Moore, the founder of the Greater Philadelphia Health Action, Inc. (GPHA), the roundtable will be a wonderful opportunity to listen and learn more about our community’s views on how we can continue to ensure reliable, affordable healthcare is a reality for everyone.
