Evans Announces $407,000 Federal Grant for Phila. Housing Authority

February 28, 2020

PHILADELPHIA (Feb. 28, 2020) – Congressman Dwight Evans (D-PA-3rd) announced the Philadelphia Housing Authority will receive a $407,198 federal Resident Opportunities and Self Sufficiency (ROSS) grant.

"In addition to the federal funding PHA receives to carry out its core mission of providing affordable housing, this grant will fund service coordinators to enable participating families to increase their earned income, reduce their need for public assistance and make progress toward achieving economic independence and housing self-sufficiency. This is another tool in the toolbox to help reduce poverty and rebuild Philadelphia block by block," Evans said.

Kelvin A. Jeremiah, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Housing Authority, said, "PHA is firmly committed to helping residents achieve a better life through self-sufficiency and the ROSS grant is fundamental to our efforts. We have transformed our resident services to better meet their needs. We are grateful to receive any funding that would support our residents. Thank you Congressman Evans for your continued support."

Evans represents Pennsylvania's 3rd Congressional District, which includes Northwest and West Philadelphia and parts of North, South and Center City Philadelphia.
