Evans Votes to Send Impeachment Articles to Senate

Senate’s choice: Fair trial – with witnesses – or a rush to cover up for Trump

WASHINGTON (Jan. 15, 2020) – Congressman Dwight Evans (D-PA-3rd) today voted for a House resolution sending the Senate two approved articles of impeachment against President Trump and naming the House "managers" who will act as prosecutors in the Senate trial.

"The country is watching the Senate to see if they will hold a fair trial -- with witnesses -- or rush to cover up President Trump's offenses against the country and the Constitution," Evans said. "Speaker Pelosi and the House took some time before sending the articles of impeachment over to focus attention on having a fair trial, which also allowed for more evidence to come to light.

"When the founders wrote our Constitution in Philadelphia, they spelled out that Congress is an independent branch of government that must do oversight of the president and hold him or her accountable when necessary. Americans expect members of Congress to choose country over party."
