Evans Working for Fairness for Refinery Workers and City Residents

June 26, 2019

WASHINGTON (June 26, 2019) – Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-03) said he is working with other federal, city and state officials to make sure that the workers at the Philadelphia Energy Solutions and Philadelphia residents are treated fairly in the wake of the refinery fire and the announcement of the facility's closure.

"The owners of the refinery must not be let off the hook during or after a closure. The refinery workers and the neighbors and taxpayers in Philadelphia should not have to bear the burden for cleanup after the fire or for any remediation that may have to be done if and when the facility closes. I have already been working with the mayor's office and will be working with other federal, city and state officials to ensure that the workers and residents are treated fairly and protected."

Evans represents the 3rd Congressional District, which includes Northwest and West Philadelphia and parts of North, South, Southwest and Center City Philadelphia.
