Even some Republicans already want to repeal parts of Trump’s new budget law
I and my Democratic colleagues pointed out several problems with the Trump “big, beautiful” budget before Republicans in Congress passed it in a rush to meet his demand to pass it by July 4. I stand by my “NO” vote on this law. So I’m glad that some Republicans in Congress are already calling for repeal of parts of this law – and I think that shows how bad this new law is!
Here are two examples:
- A Republican senator from Missouri has introduced a bill to repeal two of the Medicaid cuts in the new law. I think we need to repeal ALL of its Medicaid cuts, but I’m encouraged to see this development.
- Some Republicans in Congress want to repeal the new law’s tax hike on gamblers. The new policy could tax gamblers even in years in which they break even or net-out losses.
