Fighting for Crime Victims, Seniors, Families, Workers, Healthy Food for Neighborhoods
In my last newsletter, I outlined how I fought against the Trump Medicaid-cuts and tax-cuts bill in committee and in the House of Representatives. Today, I’d like to give you a quick overview of several other ways I’ve been working for you. Recently, I:
● Spoke at a Philadelphia rally for Whole Foods workers who are trying to unionize.
● Introduced a bill to stop the Trump administration from excessive "clawbacks" of Social Security checks.
● Hosted a news conference in Washington to advocate for Head Start funding with Pennsylvania families and providers. (Click here to see video)
● Introduced a bill to expand the Earned Income Tax Credit and co-led a bill to expand the Child Tax Credit.
● Co-led a bill to re-authorize the Healthy Food Financing Initiative, which is modeled on a Pennsylvania program I helped to create as a state legislator. The programs bring healthy food to underserved urban and rural communities.

● Co-led the newly reintroduced bill to restore the right of victims and survivors to hold gun companies accountable in court, and spoke in the virtual news conference announcing it.
● Introduced a bipartisan job-training bill, the LEON Act, named for Philadelphia's great Rev. Leon Sullivan.
● Spoke at a news conference telling now-former special federal employee Elon Musk to keep his hands OFF Social Security!
