Medicare Open Enrollment Has Begun; Medicare Prescription Drug Costs Will Be More Affordable

E-Newsletter

The Medicare open enrollment period began Oct. 15 and ends Dec. 7. For more information directly from Medicare, you can visit https://www.Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE. In Pennsylvania, you can also get help with understanding the options from the commonwealth’s impartial PA MEDI program (formerly known as Apprise) – click here to learn more, or call 1-800-783-7067.

I will host a telephone town hall from noon to 1 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 27, to help Medicare beneficiaries in the 3rd Congressional District understand their options during open enrollment. If you don’t receive a call to join, you can call 888-480-3686 during the town hall to join.

And starting January 1, 2024, thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act I voted for, Medicare prescription drug costs will be more affordable! Seniors and other Medicare Part D enrollees with high drug spending will have their out-of-pocket drug costs capped at about $3,500 next year, and all enrollees will have their costs capped at $2,000 in 2025.

In addition, many Medicare beneficiaries will continue to save hundreds of dollars on their health care costs because the new law I voted for capped the price of insulin at $35 per month and made recommended vaccines free. Both President Biden and I support expanding the insulin cost protection to all Americans.

 Saturday: Philadelphia Service Academy Day

Representatives from all five U.S. service academies, the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board, my office and U.S. Sen. Bob Casey’s office will be present. My office can help with federal issues. During my first six years in Congress, my office has helped to return to or save more than $25 million for Philadelphians from federal agencies such as the IRS, Social Security Administration and Department of Veterans Affairs. We also help constituents with other federal concerns such as U.S. Postal Service issues and immigration or passport issues.

If you’re seeking help with a federal agency or a federal concern, you can contact my offices at 215-276-0340 (Northwest Philadelphia) or 215-254-3400 (Point Breeze) or fill out this form that legally authorizes us to look into your case. My staff has also resumed holding mobile office hours in several locations throughout the district.
