E-Newsletter

● House Republicans are pushing a budget plan that is “likely to lead to” Medicaid cuts, and this week, President Trump endorsed it. More details are below!

I’m continuing to work with Democratic colleagues in Congress and outside organizations to push back against actions by the Trump administration.

In addition to providing updates in this newsletter and on my website, I will soon hold a telephone town hall to share more updates and answer some of your questions: Saturday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. This date is four days after a scheduled presidential address to Congress, so there should be plenty to talk about! I hope to announce one or more guest speakers soon, but in the meantime, you can click here to sign up to be called.

Some advantages of this format include: no constituent has to find child care to participate or even leave their home, let alone worry about bad weather. And this setup allows my office to call 60,000 people within minutes, nearly enough to fill Lincoln Financial Field!

I also wanted to let you know that I’m co-sponsoring the Taxpayer Data Protection Act (H.R. 1101) – click here to read more details.

Medicaid Cuts ‘Likely’ from Republican Budget

Next week, the Republican majority in the House of Representatives plans to hold a vote on a their budget resolution, “which will likely lead to substantial cuts to Medicaid,” as a nonpartisan news service described it.

And this week, President Trump endorsed it, just hours after promising “Medicare, Medicaid — none of that stuff is going to be touched.” The Republican budget also calls for $4.5 trillion in tax cuts, favoring the richest and big corporations. I will be voting NO if this legislation comes up for a vote in the House.
