Veterans’ Back Pay Deadline and Saturday Event; I’m on “Threads” App
An important deadline is approaching for many veterans. The PACT Act, which I proudly voted for, expands VA health care and benefits for veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. Under this law, Aug. 9, 2023, is the deadline for eligible veterans or their survivors to apply for back pay under the PACT Act or to submit an “Intent to File.” You can learn more about the back pay provision by clicking here.
To help Philadelphia-area veterans learn more about PACT Act benefits, the VA Philadelphia Medical Center will host a PACT Act Presentation and Family Fair and Carnival this Saturday, July 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3900 Woodland Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19104.
Veterans of the Vietnam War, Gulf War and the post-9/11 era, and their families, are invited. The event will include food, music, a dunking tank, movies and pony rides. In addition to presentations about the PACT Act, claims assistants from the Veterans Benefits Administration will be on site to assist with claims, and enrollment and eligibility specialists will be there to assist with on-the-spot enrollment and will be able to schedule toxic exposure screenings.

During my first six years in Congress, my office has helped to return to or save more than $25 million for Philadelphians from federal agencies such as the IRS, Social Security Administration and Department of Veterans Affairs. We also help constituents with other federal concerns such as U.S. Postal Service issues and immigration or passport issues.
If you’re seeking help with a federal agency or a federal concern, you can contact my offices at 215-276-0340 (Northwest Philadelphia) or 215-254-3400 (Point Breeze) or fill out this form that legally authorizes us to look into your case. My staff has also resumed holding mobile office hours in several locations throughout the district.
