Save the Date: Senior Resource and Wellness Fair is May 8! I will hold my annual Senior Resource and Wellness Fair on Friday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Center in the Park, 5818 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia, 19144. It's a great opportunity to get valuable information and resources from local, state-wide, and national organizations! For more information, call my office at (215) 276-0340. School-repair bill I have reintroduced my bill that would use the federal tax code to help finance repairs to older public schools. The top priority for our nation's students and their teachers should be education. They should not be worrying about becoming ill from lead, mold, or asbestos, or concerned that lessons will be postponed due to malfunctioning heating and air conditioning systems. I serve on the House Ways and Means Committee, which oversees tax laws. My Rehabilitation of Historic Schools Act would allow for the federal historic rehabilitation tax credit to include public-school buildings. Our children deserve an equal shot at the future, regardless of their zip code. My bill is based on a successful state-level program from Virginia that passed with bipartisan support and can be duplicated nationwide. You can read more about my bill by clicking here.
