I am a firm believer that America’s economy must work for people on Broad Street- not just billionaires. That we should not be putting corporations over Cobbs Creek or Wall Street over West Philly.
I’m fighting in Congress to help build a thriving economy for all Americans. As a member of the influential Ways and Means Committee, which oversees taxes, trade, Social Security, and Medicare, I am advocating for poverty-busting policies such as restoring expansions of the Child Tax Credit and the Low-Income Housing Credit. Moreover, I am fighting for the Earned Income Tax Credit, one of our biggest, most useful tools to reduce poverty and put hard-earned money back into workers’ pockets.
A thriving economy is key to building stable neighborhoods in Philadelphia and beyond. Our small business owners are the engines that drive investment in our neighborhoods and spur economic development, block by block. I will continue to fight for small businesses in the Third Congressional District.
As part of building a fair economy for all, we must ensure workers’ rights to organize and bargain collectively are protected. I am proud to be a supporter of the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, which would safeguard workers’ ability to unionize free from employer harassment, intimidation, or retaliation.

WASHINGTON (Dec. 8, 2020) – Congressman Dwight Evans (D-PA-3rd) welcomed a court ruling in favor of the proposed merger of Jefferson Health and Albert Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia and the region. Evans continues to voice his strong support for the merger.
WASHINGTON (Dec. 4, 2020) – Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-03) welcomed today's House passage of a landmark cannabis bill, the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act. The bill includes Evans' Homegrown Act, which would help small businesses and people of color share in the booming cannabis industry.

PHILADELPHIA (Oct. 30, 2020) – Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-03) will hold a Virtual Federal Services Fair on upcoming back-to-back Saturdays, Nov. 7 and 14.

WASHINGTON (Sept. 22, 2020) – Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-03) announced the House passed the CROWN Act Monday evening.
The bill (H.R. 5309) would explicitly prohibit discrimination on the basis of hairstyle or hair texture that is commonly associated with a particular race or national origin. It would prohibit such discrimination in federally funded programs, housing, employment, public accommodations, and with respect to the making and enforcement of contracts.
WASHINGTON (Sept. 17, 2020) – Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-03) is pushing to include substantial renter and homeowner aid in a potential congressional Covid-19 relief deal.
Today Evans released his "Making Housing Matter" plan, which would provide both immediate relief and long-term funding.

The legislation would ensure borrowers are aware of emergency mortgage relief provided by Congress, helping the roughly one-third of homeowners not covered by this requirement in the CARES Act that passed in March.
