Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) introduced the Addiction Recovery for Rural Communities (ARRC) Act, a bipartisan bill that will help rural communities bolster their efforts to fight the opioid and addiction epidemic. Joining Congresswoman Bustos to lead the legislation in the House are Representatives Rick Crawford (AR-01), Roger Marshall (KS-01) and Dwight Evans (PA-02) – all fellow members of the House Agriculture Committee. As you know this morning a shooting took place during a practice for the Republican Congressional Baseball Team. At this time we have learned that House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, two Capitol Police Officers and a congressional aide were shot and inquired during the attack. We will keep everyone in our thoughts and prayers today and hope for a quick and strong recovery for everyone injured. I am very glad to hear there were Capitol Police Officers at the practice this morning who were able to prevent the attack from being much worse.
