Washington, D.C. -- Last night, many members of our community were disappointed to learn that the man who fatally shot Alton Sterling, the 37-year-old black man who was killed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana last July, was not charged with murder. This news was gut wrenching and heartbreaking for our community.

Leading Republicans in both the House and Senate claim they are close to an agreement on a spending bill that funds the government through September but need more time to finalize the details within their party.

Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Dwight Evans will speak about the importance of expanding access to fresh, healthy foods for everyone in our communities during a panel at the 5th Annual Broccoli City Music Festival in Washington, D.C. on May 5, 2017.

Broccoli City is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide millennials with the tools and skills they will need to build successful, sustainable urban communities. To celebrate the 5th year of the Broccoli City Music Festival this year's conference theme will be "Building Broccoli Cities."

Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-02) released the following statement in response to U.S. airstrikes in Syria, after a horrific chemical weapons attack executed by Bashar al-Assad and the Assad Regime:

"My heart breaks for the men, women and children in Syria who have been impacted by the continuous brutal attacks perpetrated by Assad and his regime," Congressman Dwight Evans said. "This week's horrendous attack was yet another atrocity in the Assad regime's string of deadly attacks on the Syrian people."

Washington, D.C. -- Last week, Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-02) cosponsored the Paycheck Fairness Act to close the gender pay gap in Pennsylvania and across the nation.

Today is Equal Pay Day, a day that represents the amount of time it takes for women's wages to finally catch up to what men earned the previous year. Nationwide, women still earn about 80 cents for every dollar men earn.
