Washington, D.C.-- Over the weekend, cowardly human beings vandalized the Mount Carmel Cemetery, a Jewish cemetery in Northeast Philadelphia just a week after a similar act of vandalism in St. Louis, Missouri.

Today, just days after this act of hatred and Anti-Semitism in our city, a bomb threat was reported at the Perelman Jewish Day School (Stern Center) and the Kaiserman Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania.

WASHINGTON, D.C.--Yesterday, Congressman Dwight Evans and Congressman Donald McEachin introduced the Rehabilitation of Historic Schools Act of 2017, HR 922, in the 115th Congress.

HR 922 would amend the Internal Revenue Code to allow rehabilitation expenditures for a qualified public educational facility (defined as a school facility which is part of a public elementary or secondary school and is owned by a private, for-profit corporation pursuant to a public-private agreement) to qualify for the rehabilitation tax credit.

The United States always has been, and always will be a strong ally of Israel. I believe and hope that we can use that relationship to foster a meaningful peace agreement that brings about an end to terrorism and violent disputes over territory in Israel and Palestine. I am convinced that the U.S. and Israel must always work together, even when they may disagree, to establish a just and lasting peace. With that in mind, I believe that House Resolution 11 does not advance this goal in a meaningful way.
