This week, Congressman Dwight Evans attended Agriculture (Ag) Progress Days at Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania. While there, Congressman Evans participated in various events throughout the day, starting with a hearing with Pennsylvania State Legislators on the state of Agriculture in Pennsylvania. He also co-moderated a forum entitled "Barnyard Discussion: Issues Driving the State of Pennsylvania Agriculture" with Rep. Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-02) released the following statement regarding President Trump's remarks during his news conference last evening:
"Yesterday, Americans nationwide saw President Trump's true colors—not only did he walk back his comments with vitriol, he commended the actions of neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and the remaining groups in the Alt-Right."
"President Trump has proven that his loyalty lies with hate groups instead of Americans who believe that our country has no time for hatred, bigotry, or racism."
Last week, Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-02) introduced the No Conflict of Interest Presidency Act of 2017.
The No Conflict of Interest Presidency Act of 2017 requires the conversion of the Trump Organization's businesses, which include real estate, golf courses, hotels, resorts and a range of other investments, into cash; with which he would then be required to buy treasury bills and widely diversified mutual funds, which are considered conflict free under federal law.
Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-02) released the following statement after the Republican "skinny repeal" bill failed in the Senate early this morning.
"What happened on the Senate Floor is not a victory but a much needed opportunity for President Trump and Republicans in both the House and Senate to focus on the needs of the American people," Congressman Evans said. "I've long said there is a big difference between governing and campaigning. It's time for the Republican Party and the President to govern."
Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) introduced the Addiction Recovery for Rural Communities (ARRC) Act, a bipartisan bill that will help rural communities bolster their efforts to fight the opioid and addiction epidemic. Joining Congresswoman Bustos to lead the legislation in the House are Representatives Rick Crawford (AR-01), Roger Marshall (KS-01) and Dwight Evans (PA-02) – all fellow members of the House Agriculture Committee. Senators Joe Donnelly (D-IN), Luther Strange (R-AL) and Pat Roberts (R-KS) also introduced companion legislation in the U.S. Senate.
I wanted to share with you that my amendment was passed in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This is especially timely as my amendment would require the President to send a report to Congress about ANY cooperation between the U.S. and Russia in Syria.
Washington, D.C. -- Last week, I had the opportunity to go on an extremely informative, encouraging and enlightening trip to both Israel and Jordan. While in Israel I spoke with policy makers, elected officials, and residents to hear their stories and learn more about their experiences. For me it's always all about people. Talking to people is the only way to learn about their needs and figure out solutions.
Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-02) is proud to stand with U.S. Senators Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Congressional Black Caucus Chairman Rep.
