One of the issues that Philadelphians call or email me about the most is health care. Here's an update on what's been happening with this vital issue in Washington.
In our first 200 days in power, the new Democratic majority in the House has passed several bills to protect Americans' health care and lower the cost of prescription drugs -- including insulin, which is crucial for thousands of Philadelphians with diabetes.
As the month of June comes to an end, let's remember the hundreds of Philadelphians who've lost their lives to the senseless acts of gun violence that continue to plague our communities.
The surge of gun violence that our neighborhoods have experienced recently is beyond tragic -- it's maddening, sickening, and tiresome.
Just last year, in 2018, the city of Philadelphia had 351 homicides, many of them committed with a gun.
In light of recent news, I want to let you know why I strongly support starting an impeachment inquiry of the president of the United States, a position I have held since 2017. In my view, he and his administration continue to obstruct and stonewall all attempts by Congress to seek information and testimony from witnesses about the Mueller investigation and whether the executive branch is carrying out its duty to faithfully execute the nation's laws. |
