Last week, I was proud to vote for a budget resolution clearing the way to pass more Covid relief and economic rescue funding. President Biden's American Rescue Plan will be the basis of the upcoming bill. The resolution I voted for will allow the relief bill to pass by simple majority votes in the House and Senate.

This week, House committees – including the two I serve on: Ways and Means, which handles taxes; and Small Business – will work on this "reconciliation" bill to move it toward passage.

I am pleased that President Joe Biden has taken action quickly to bring about change since his Wednesday swearing-in. He had already proposed a $1.9 trillion Covid relief and economic rescue plan that I believe is big and bold, which is what I have been calling for. You can read more about it by clicking here.

I welcome President-elect Biden's Covid relief and economic rescue proposal. It contains many ideas I've voted for in the House last year, which were resisted by the previous Senate majority and the soon-to-be-former president. I viewed the recent, smaller relief deal as a down payment. Starting Wednesday, I believe we'll be able to do a lot more – I can't wait!

I know how important this service is for many seniors and veterans to receive their prescription medications on time, for people who receive Social Security checks by mail, for anyone who wants to vote by mail during the Covid-19 pandemic, and more.
