I have heard from over 6,000 Philadelphians about delayed mail or your support for maintaining the U.S. Postal Service, and I have been taking action. I know how important this service is for many seniors and veterans to receive their prescription medications on time, for people who receive Social Security checks by mail, for anyone who wants to vote by mail during the Covid-19 pandemic, and more.

Too many Philadelphia schools have had dangerous problems like asbestos, lead or mold, and hazards like those are a concern in many schools across the country. That's why I have been focused on making sure the House would pass my school-repair plan, the Rehabilitation of Historic Schools Act, and another one that I strongly support as part of a sweeping infrastructure package, the Moving Forward Act (H.R. 2).

On Friday, I voted for the Heroes Act, a sweeping Covid-19 relief bill. It passed the House of Representatives on a bipartisan vote.

I believe we need an urgent federal response that is equal to the crisis we face. Unemployment and food-bank lines have reached levels not seen since the Great Depression.

As we all work to cope with the effects of the Covid-19 outbreak, I'm pleased to share some good news: $30 million in federal funding is coming to Philadelphia to revitalize the Sharswood-Blumberg neighborhood, a goal I have long pursued.

As the Covid-19 outbreak continues, many Americans have become interested in voting by mail. Fortunately, Pennsylvania recently changed its laws to allow much wider use of mail-in voting.

My office has received many questions about relief that Congress has passed for individuals, families and small businesses affected by the Covid-19 outbreak. For most people, the economic impact payments (sometimes called "stimulus checks") for individuals and families are expected to arrive starting this week, by direct deposit rather than a paper check in the mail. Direct deposit is faster and more secure.
