More on Congress
Congressman Dwight Evans (D-PA-2nd) delivered the following remarks in the House of Representatives chamber today in support of the Farm Bill (H.R. 2), which the House then passed:
“Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
“I chose to be a member of the Agriculture Committee because this committee has jurisdiction over some of the most crucial issues facing our communities, and that is food and nutrition.
Congressman Dwight Evans (D-PA-2nd) said today’s overwhelming vote to nominate Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House means House Democrats can move forward to deliver on key priorities in the new Congress that begins Jan. 3.
“My constituents in Philadelphia – and a majority of Americans – sent us here to do the people’s business. They want action on things that matter to them like health care, jobs, infrastructure and schools. It’s time to put intrigue and inside baseball aside and move on so we can deliver for the people.”
Congressman Dwight Evans (D-PA-2nd) welcomed what the voters’ decision to place Democrats in control of the U.S. House of Representatives will mean for Philadelphia and the nation.
President Donald J. Trump has signed into law legislation introduced by U.S. Senators Gary Peters (D-MI) and James Risch (R-ID), Chair of the Senate Small Business Committee and Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-02) aimed at helping small businesses safeguard their intellectual property with expanded education on obtaining and protecting patents. The Small Business Innovation Protection Act will build upon existing outreach programs run by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the U.S.
Today, President Trump held a summit with Vladimir Putin, whose country was deeply entrenched in our 2016 U.S. Presidential election. Despite their obvious attack on our sacred election process, Mr. Trump called our country’s previous relationship with Russia “foolishness and stupidity.”
The only “foolishness and stupidity,” I see is that our President has more loyalty to Russia than the United States of America!
Last night, House Resolution 2655, sponsored by Congressman Dwight Evans (Philadelphia and Montgomery County), Democratic member of the Small Business Committee, was agreed to in the House of Representatives. Evans’ legislation would help small business owners learn how to protect their valuable intellectual property.
Nationwide, our small business owners, the backbone of our communities, are struggling to address the ever-growing threats of cybersecurity and how to protect their businesses from intellectual property theft, both at home and abroad.
Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-02) a Member of the Subcommittee on Nutrition in the House Agriculture Committee, released the following statement denouncing the Farm Bill passage:
“I am disappointed that the GOP Leadership had the unmitigated gall to bring this highly partisan and warped bill to the House Floor for a second vote, posing as the Farm Bill. Nothing has changed in the bill since the last time it came to the Floor, so you have to wonder what was offered or said to those Members who voted No just a month ago to change their votes this time.
Today, Congressman Dwight Evans (Philadelphia and Montgomery County) joined with his colleagues on the House Floor to vote in strong support of H.R. 1702, the Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) Improvement Act of 2017.
Today, Congressman Dwight Evans (Philadelphia and Montgomery County) participated in the House Agriculture Committee Farm Bill 2018 Markup and forcefully urged the GOP majority to end their assault on the poor, elderly, veterans, and children and protect the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly referred to as SNAP.
